PROGRAM

• The Ocean City C-Cerpants
strive to provide the highest quality swim instruction and training for
all ability levels in a warm, caring environment. We view the good of
the group (team) with equal importance to the success of the individual
swimmer.
• The Ocean City C-Cerpant
swim team is a private not for profit organization. Monies received
through fundraising, dues, fees and such go towards the operation of our
team. The expenses of the OCCCerpants include the salaries of our
coaching staff, USS fees, trophies, maintenance and equipment.
• The OCCCerpant swim
team is made up of several different levels of swimmers.The swimmers on
the team practice with others of similar ability. Athletes of all ages
can be found in all of the groups.
GROUPS
Developmental 1
Beginner Level - Training will focus on proper stroke
techniques for all four competitive strokes. To be considered, the
swimmer must be able to complete a legal 25 meter freestyle and a 25
meter backstroke. Competition at local meets is encouraged. Swimmers are
encouraged to attend three weekly sessions.
Developmental 2
This group will be introduced to interval training and
mechanics for all strokes will be a focus. Swimmers must be able to
complete a legal 100-meter Individual Medley and be willing to commit to
at least three training sessions per week. Competition is offered at
league and USS meets. Swimmers are encouraged to attend four weekly
sessions and must maintain a minimum of three classes per week.
Intermediate/Junior
Intermediate/Junior swimmers are committed to consistent training in
order to enhance their competitive experience. Swimmers will be schooled
in training intervals and specific stroke mechanics in all strokes.
Athletes are prepped to advance to senior level swimming. Swimmers aged
11 & over should attend four to six weekly sessions. Competition at
league and regional USA Swimming meets is expected. Intermediates should
be able to sustain an hour and half of training and juniors should be
able so sustain two hour training practices. Intermediates must be able
to do a 200 IM and 10 x 50 meter freestyle swims on the 1:30 interval.
Juniors should be able to also do a 200 IM and 10 x 50 swims on the: 55
interval.
Senior
Advanced Level - The Senior Training group provides young athletes with
an elite training schedule to pursue swimming excellence. All swimmers
must be able to sustain a set of 10 x 100-meter freestyle swims on the
1:45 interval for consideration. Swimmers are expected to train six
sessions per week unless excused in advance by the head coach.
Competition at local and regional USA Swimming meets is expected.
